For some time now, I've been interested in reproducing the effects of video-feedback on Autodesk's Cellular Automata Lab. For the unitiated; hook up a video camera to a monitor (S-VHS or ED-Beta is best), turn-down the room lighting, and point the camera at the monitor. When the camera is zoomed-out, one sees a "hall of tv's". By moving objects in the field of view of the camera, one can observe that the video information is propagated (echoed) back into the hall of tv's. By zooming-in, the size of the 'echoed' tv's approach the size of the original tv. Then a threshold is reached, beyond which extermely interesting visual feedback develops. I encourage everyone interested in CA and dynamic systems to try this out, then try to answer the question, "Can this be emulated using Cellular Auto- mata?" I eagerly await discussion. _\\\/ ------------------------------------------------------------------- = ..'
