Can anyone point me at any work which brings together the areas of cellular automata and music composition? I've made a preliminary survey of articles on algorithms for generating music, and some of these draw on areas such as chaos and fractals. Given the long-standing interest in cellular automata, I thought someone might have investigated algorithms from this area applied to music composition, but so far I've not been able to find anything. Any pointers appreciated - thanks.
