I mystified as to why this message about Japan's 'takeover' of the US economy came to me through the CA mailing list. Might I point out, however, that a list of US holdings in many third world countries would be rather more comprehensive. (start with the Dominican Republic, a wholly owned subsidiary of the US as far as I can tell--proceed to the domination of the banana export industry, a strategic source of hard currency for Central American nations-- the list goes on) It seems strange that Japanese investments in the US are cause for alarm when the investments of multinational corps. in other countries is not similarly suspect..... Perhaps it would be in the interest of all of the members of the CA mailing list if this kind of message were posted to the appropriate Usenet Newsgroups where flames are a fact of life.... Ann Bell
